Biography

After retiring on July 1, 1995, from the Army at Fort Rucker, Alabama Carlos worked part-time while completing his Bachelors of Science Degree in Professional Aeronautics with a Minor in Aviation Safety from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.  He began his new career as an airframe power plant mechanic at DynCorp Aviation at Fort Rucker on the FAA aircraft trainer TH-67, a Jetbell Ranger helicopter.

After a few years working on the flight line, GVP Robert Martinez, Southern Territory, gave him the opportunity to work as an Apprentice Organizer.  On April 1st, 2006, GVP Robert Martinez appointed him to Grand Lodge Special Representative then Grand Lodge Representative for the Southern Territory and severed for eight years in the territory as an Organizer.

On November 4, 2013, International President R. Thomas Buffenbarger appointed him to the position of Director of the Retirees, Community & Membership Services Department to officially assume the position on January 1st, 2014.

On October 1st, 2015, Carlos was assigned to his current position as Director General Secretary-Treasurer Services.   Currently, his duties consist of GST Services, the I AM Assistance Program (Disaster Relief) and the IAMAW Veterans Program.

Carlos serves under GST Dora Cervantes.
